There
were only 6 of us today – on our home water. Disappointing after
our excellent tuition day yesterday, or perhaps it was the weather.
The
day started ok but the rain came in rather earlier than expected and
the fish were not playing ball which did not help. Sinking lines were
the answer and Black and Green the favoured dish on the menu,
although Keith had a couple on a white fly with some green and pink
on his dropper on a Di 5 in Brownie Deeps where the water was a very
murky colour.
Most
of the fish were taken between the two Islands by Kezz and Angus who
bagged up and Keith went on to take four more and release a further
three. Rosemary had a bad day at the office losing one, her Di 5 loop
coming adrift, getting one on a Di 3 then moving to Buzzer Bay and
honour restored a little with two more, and many pulls that did not
hang on. Two more blanked.
Star of the future? A huge WELL
DONE to Angus fishing only his second match. He only started fly
fishing last year on one of the Clubs junior days. He showed us all
up with a great bag of fish including the heaviest fish of the day
and a PB for him!
The
result is as follows:-
Angus
Craig Dennis 6 fish 16lbs 05oz Heaviest fish 4lb 10oz
Keith
Prowting 6 fish 15lbs 12oz
Kezz
Saxton 6 fish 15lbs 06oz
Rosemary
Gunn 3 fish 6lbs 02oz
Thanks for the report Rosemary and well done Angus

ReplyDeleteWell done Angus - probably more Colwick matches required involving juniors as cost to travel further afield is prohibitive for many. Well supported Kezz
