  2. Fished yesterday Tuesday 8th for 4 hours.Black hoppers and a white fritzy blob on point, loads of pulls and a few fish. Just pulled along the top. Got broken by something big, never quite saw it! Having played for while and thought I was winning it took off under the boat! My beloved Midge tip line got snapped so I am in mourning!

  4. A nicer day yesterday, Tuesday 15th. Took new CFFC member Robin out.
Caught on black crunchers & a Cut Throat Cat (see www.fliesonline.co.uk) Savage takes on this lure fished on a Di 3. So much so snapped once and then again when I had 2 fish on, only landing the one on the cruncher middle dropper. The point had snapped off. I need some more and they are on holiday until next week! Fish rose every so often all over but for a short spell only, then nothing for ages. Hope Sunday is nice.

  5. Went out today and had the lake to myself. A bit windy at times, I had many very tentative takes rather like catching a bit of weed (but no weed on my line!) I fished mostly with a Di 3 sweep and eventually sussed it letting the line go down for at least a count of 12/15 and retrieving slowly. Had 4 on a Black Cruncher on mid dropper, 1 on Cut throat Cat on point and 1 on two tone Blob on top dropper. Heaviest fish being 5lb 2oz, took me ages to land it! Make the most of the Autumn days when possible weather wise, remember to pre book boats.

  12. It was the most amazing conditions, soooo foggy in the morning! I cycled round with care! Had to ring Keith to see how he was doing because I could not see his boat on the lake. When it cleared a bit I went out about midday. Caught 6 fish. All very fit and give you a run for your money. Floating line, Foam Hares Ear, Black flashback nymph and later one on a Black Nomad. Lost a couple and plenty of pulls. Great fishing!

  13. Weekend fished really well with 1st rate contributions from the usual, Tom, Rosemary, Kez and Keith. Taster Day went well too. I managed only one on Saturday but novice with me did get 2.. Must sort out this end of year fishing! Nothing to report for Monday, Tuesday - no one out. Not that I blame them given the Hooley blowing through and rain.

  16. A cracking day, one of the very best I have had at Colwick, 8 in the morning most on a Di 5 with a Minky Booby, a couple on a Midgetip with black Nomads. A break at 1pm and then 6 more in the afternoon all on the Midge tip with a variety of nymphs. Did not mean to stay long, but each time I thought time to go an rise happened! Shopping did not get done as the rain came just after I finished thankfully but still got a bit wet. 3 more boats were out all catching well. Such good value at present, make the most of Colwick especially while the weather so good for the time of year.

  17. Caught 2 pike today 6lb 2oz & 3lb 5oz! But they were pike. Three trout. They have been hammering the lures all day. So many fish still there. Big minkies etc. on the drift will get you loads of fish. Oh and the biggest pike out today - 21lb 8oz. A couple of even bigger lost to misfortune at the net for folks. A great day and tomorrow to come.
