They've been jumping higher than Dolphins - looking for a net on a long pole
ReplyDeleteno wonder you are called drynet lol im going on sunday i will report back later.
ReplyDeletecolwick report 15/9 me pink head damsel did not work today but me gold head hackled damsel did catching 4 loads of pulls.. then me rod with me floater on it went over board loseing it so i went home not a happy person tell you all later......
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the rod Kev
ReplyDeleteHad 5 this morning and lost a couple. Fish midge tip line with damsel on point and small black hoppers on the droppers. 2 took the damsel and 3 had the hoppers, they were fish quick and jerkey through the top ft of water. Pulls dried up as the sun got a little higher. Yes I do use floating lines when circumstances require it.
ReplyDeleteThe sun made colwick hard fishing 2day cought 3 lost 2 white zonker midge tip fishing got better late afternoon has the sun got lower.A cloudy day will make colwick fish better with loads of fish still in.
ReplyDeleteYou managed to get a couple then
DeleteThay came back on again a about 4.30ish when i started to catch them it was to late boats in at 6 thats colwick for you lol
ReplyDeleteBeen for 4 hours today, pulls on Cats small minkie on slow glass and had one on a silvery cruncher on floater top dropper, Also had takes with buzzers, fear I was not pulling back fast enough looking at above comments. Jim and partner had 20 between them yesterday buzzers pulled fast!
ReplyDeleteA good morning at colwick takeing 6 on hoppers from a boat, worth a go early morning.from a boat.
ReplyDeleteexcellent fishing at colwick 2day catching 22 on my quill buzzers in a boat out from the lodge & the road strech .2 day ticket men also had a good day on a four hour boat .i bet thornton dont fish like that 2morro............
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else noticed that mooring the boats in the middle of the lake has provided the cormorants with new places to rest between fishing? Net the rocks then undo the good work?!!
ReplyDeleteSeems that while I was away last week boats were replaced behind the island due to them being full of cormorant droppings???
ReplyDeleteAnd the lake continues to fish well. I checked the rod average for the season to date and it's 5.5. As good as anywhere I'd say.
Kezz how right you were about Thornton, why do we go anywhere else but Colwick on our doorstep!!!! I had a most enjoyable morning with newcomer Susie on Friday 5th. Fish all over.
ReplyDeleteLake stocked today with 600+ fish. Boats back today with 7 out. Fishing not easy with one day ticket regular managing 8 but others seeing plenty of fish that wouldn't play ball. 1's & 2's were the order of the day for the rest for the most part. All glad to be out in the boats again! Try sweetener deeps and rainbow deeps for fish. Let me know if you can tempt them!
ReplyDeleteToo true, let me know what you tempt them on, I managed one small Pike, 2 Perch and only landed one trout out from roadside bank on a black hopper. Lost one on Norman's purple buzzer. Still a lovely day and good to several out.
ReplyDeleteFishing not easy at the moment though some are still recording good catches. Tom Morton had 10 and his boat partner 9 today on orange blobs fished deep and slow. A day ticket angler came off with 5 to daddies and buzzers so hope for the naturalists amongst us. (sounds so much better than purists?). Everyone reporting loads of fish to be seen when in the boats but with not much coming off in the way of naturals and some vile algae present colouring some of the water, maybe no wonder the big bright things are getting attention.
ReplyDeletePike dates for the trout lake are now published and bookings being taken. 3 boat weekends Oct & Nov. Only 18 places available for the boat weekends with 35 as last year for the banks in the new year. Interested - book soon to avoid disappointment!
ReplyDeleteI know not everyone reads the blog but - I have noticed that there is no mention that there will be no fly fishing on the pike boat weekends in the limited info put out. Just thought it should be out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jed,might be an idea to get Susie to put on our Facebook and twitter sites
