  2. Went to Colwick 11th July, fishing from 9.30 until 3pm. Started with Di 5 sweep and caught 2 fish on Olive buzzers, then changed to Midge tip and had 5 more on various olive buzzers and one on a Damsel. Many Damsels coming off. Hot with slight breeze but bearable, good fishing for me!

    1. I'm going to have to take my montaddy off you if you carry on like this. Lets hope you can do it at Draycote on the ICC, no pressure then.

  4. Thanks to Steve Epton for sending me this report on fishing at Colwick on Sunday14th.
"Haven't been down for a few weeks but ventured forth this Sunday morning
in a boat before the sun got up. Managed four with one lost in play at a lot of pulls.
Guess on what !!! I decided to tie up some montaddy boobies with yellow eyes.
Fish were all around between the two islands at the top end, but had no luck with floater,
intermediate or slow sink. Tried a fast sink with a booby with no luck but decided to experiment.
I tied on a montaddy booby but used a leader length of approx 9 feet long, cast out, let all settle and then give slow long
four foot pulls and waited. Couldn't go wrong.Packed up at just after 11 when the sun finally broke through."

  5. As Kezz said I fished on Sunday 14th, starting and finish later than him, packed in about 4pm and caught on Midge tip all with Olive Buzzers on point and mid dropper. Great fishing mostly between Islands.

  6. Friday 26th. Another great day even though very hot and bright. Took a boat out 11.45 ish for 4 hours and had 3 cracking fish all well over 3lbs in Brownie Deeps all on a Mini Cats Whisker Minky on my now rather tired Midgetip. (More like a slow sink!)

  11. After Sunday I had the opportunity to have another trip to Colwick this morning and finished up with 20 in the boat, same tactics but changed to a nomad which produced more positive pulls, nice to see a few boats out as well.

  12. Tom Morton had a great day today, taking his 6 in the morning and then going on to release a further 16 in the afternoon. 22 to the boat in that horrible sun! A day ticket fisherman went out at 8.15 and was back in for 1pm with his 6. Kezz, why did you cancel your boat? Between islands deep and slow - damsel nymph working. I managed no trout at Bushy Lees fishery whilst on holiday. I did lose a corker to a tree snag close in - jungle chubbing with Joe sprang to mind. I did spend a very frustrating few hours trying to tempt clearly feading fish in front of me in gin clear water, losing several leaders to the trees behind. Ended with a 41/2lb+ tench on a Dennis the Menace and "didn't it hang on". Also had 30 - 40 Rudd to 1/2lb on very small buzzers. 7 weight was a bit overgunned! But great fun.

  15. Brian Simmons and Mr Poole shared a boat today on Colwick. Returns of 26 & 46 = 72 to the boat! Well done gentlemen. Others also did well despite the continuing hot sun! Get down their folks. Use it or lose it as they say.

  16. Took young Daniel Wainright out today. A slow morning really but spent afternoon in Brownie Deeps along tree line and finished with 16 for Daniel and 26 to me. All cracking fish though nothing over 2 3/4lb. A range of flies working black hoppers fished wet in the morning and size 14 red head damsels - green and brown catching most fish pm. Not very deep though they dropped down about 4ish. Can't think why the place isn't heaving with fishermen. Oh I know - nobody knows about it!!!!

  18. Had 15 right against the tree line in Brownie Deeps today in about 5 hrs. More importantly was able to give some flurocarbon and green snatchers to a chap with his young lad and invite them right alongside to see them both catch. Anything to bring more regulars back and get youngsters fishing! Not much moving anywhere else on the lake it seems.

  19. I fished colwick today8/7/15 after a three week break , fishing the washing line on the midge tip takeing fish on my black cruncher the fish seem to go deeper drawing the day so the di7 went on with a heineken(wolly bugger) & a pink head damsel on the dropper the heineken doing most of the damage, later on in the day the fish came up again so i fished the washing line again catching some more fish 18 in all,
corner of brownie deeps & buzzer bay......kezz

    1. You jammy thing! Well done good fishing! I had quite a few pulls and the only fish I landed on a Di 5 sweep was on a red ribbed cruncher on top dropper followed by a couple on same fly on the dropper on the Di 7 sweep. I guess the pulls may have been on the black and green lure. Paul who came out for his first time on a boat just fished one fly, caught on a black Nomad with a touch of red on sinking line. We kept and spooned one fish which was full of the longest wiggly bloodworms I have ever seen!

  22. Well done Kezz, Far better than me, I did not go deep enough quick enough, and just to top it all the fish I landed were all caught on a red ribbed cruncher on the dropper. Had some pulls I assume on the black and green. Paul had landed a couple, his first time on a boat, you'll have to take him out next time, to pass on your amazing skills!.

  24. Saturday 25th July - The Club held a social day particularly for newcomers to the Club and to boat fishing. A little help with casting etc. Several caught either their first fish or first on a boat, also some fly tying with Dave Cammiss of www.learnflytying.co.uk great stuff and one braved the weather on Sunday to win the match fishing deep with a Pitsford Pea
