We were blessed with
a lovely day - eerie to begin with as it was so foggy and you could
not see another boat. Fish were rising but proving very hard to
catch and, even if you did not see them you could, more often than
not, hear them!
The Club had 5 boats
out and it was good to see a further three boats come out later to
enjoy the by then lovely conditions. By 1pm the sun was hot and very
bright, putting the fish down somewhat.
The day proved good
for some and disastrous for others. Top rod was John Parnham fishing
a Di 11 with a monstrous looking orange lure , and then using a black
and green lure. It looked as if he had set out for Pike!
Keith took 6 and
released a further 5, but it was bad luck for him as those he
released were better fish. He used a Cut Throat Cat on a Di 3 sweep
and later switched to a Di 5 sweep line. Kezz battled hard and
manged 5 in the end, taken mostly on blobs which is not his preferred
way of fishing. Rosemary took three on a Midge tip line, one on a
small minkie and two more on a black and purple fritz nymph. The
final two were taken on a slow glass with a Cut Throat Cat on the
point.
It was really good
to see Michael Atkins join us again. He took 2 lovely fish on an
intermediate line with a Cut Throat Cat, but left early as his arm
ached after playing them!
The rest blanked I’m
afraid, although most had several pulls with fish on and off, and a
couple were broken.
The result is as
follows:-
John Parnham 6
fish 15lb 2oz (Heaviest fish 3lb 7oz)
Keith Prowting 6
fish 14lb 6oz ( 5 released )
Kezz Saxton
5 fish 12lb 2oz
Rosemary Gunn 5
fish 9lb 1oz
Michael Atkins 2
fish 5lb 14oz
