Considering the dog days of August with hard fishing in
most places, and with Colwick not being a nice colour at present with
a lot of weed, we had an excellent turn out. It was really nice to
see Norman Evans out for the morning, to be able to welcome our new
member Neil Fox Smith, to have Tom in good health again and to watch
Jed try out his little dries. The wind was not kind to any of us
making it hard to set an anchor.
I am
afraid the fish that were caught were on fast sinking lines. Keith
took 5 all on a Montaddy on a Di 5 sweep line, 3 in Brownie Deeps and
2 off the Island near the roadside. Kezz took 3 on an Orange Blob
fishing with a Di 8 and his boat partner Angus lost one and was
broken with another, fishing all day in Buzzer Bay.
Roy
took two in Buzzer Bay fishing Boobies on a 10 ft leader, Rosemary
-also in Buzzer Bay- took 1 on a Sunburst Blob on a Di 5. Several
finished early owing to wrist (Susie)and shoulder problems
(Rosemary), while Norman only manages a morning and Jed and Neil gave
up thinking they had better things to do at home! Several experienced
a few half hearted pulls or gentle plucks.
There
are plenty of fish there but they are not hungry, but as soon as the
water cools and the weed clears I am sure we will be in for a bumper
time - hopefully by our next club day on 27 September.
