After such a hot week we arrived to find a very calm Draycote -
hardly a puff of wind to begin with and, when there was a breeze, it
frequently changed direction. Anyway, quite the nicest conditions
compared with what we have put up with on our outings this year, so a
relief!
The fishing was
patchy, John Parnham caught most of his on a sinking line with a tube
fly on the boils, Kezz took his on buzzers and his special damsel on
a midge tip, Rosemary had hers on buzzers and red holo Diawl Bach
mostly on a floater, the last on a Midge tip. Keith struggled losing
one, getting broken and ended up with just one for 3lb 6oz. Some
blanked so fishing was not easy, and was much the best in the
morning. The fish went very quiet shortly before a storm and it was
very dead thereafter.
When you were lucky
enough to get a fish on they were very fit and gave a very good
account of themselves fighting really hard.
The result is as
follows:
John Parnham 7
fish 19lb 12oz (Heaviest fish 3lb 10oz)
Kezz Saxton
6 fish 17lb 12oz
Rosemary Gunn 5
fish 14lb 4oz
Keith Prowting
1 fish 3lb 6oz
