CFFC
/ Notts Salmon & Trout Junior Day
Saturday 18th April 015
Our first day for the youngsters this year.
It was a beautiful day with not too much wind, but Oh! so bright -
Great for the suntan but not for the fish to play ball!
As per usual we started the day with learning to cast for those new to it,
and practicing to improve the technique for those who have been before. It was
good to see some much improved casting with some really getting a lovely
straight line out.
Then, a break for a well deserved BBQ, and thanks to all the helpers
who did this. Delicious – Phil in the Lodge much appreciated his, especially
the onions, and hopes he is on duty next time!
Back on the water Michael took a fish quite soon on his home tied Buzzer,
just retrieving the fly very slowly. Sadly this was the only fish landed today.
Three more had fish on; two were broken, probably playing the fish too hard;
another was on rather briefly, but jumped out of the water and shook the hook.
Better luck next time. We could have done with more action but I fear the sun
was to blame as it really put the fish down. Others fishing the lake did not
find conditions easy either.
Thanks to all those who give up their time to come and help. Without them these days would not happen - and
also to Colwick Fishery for their support.
