Colwick
Fishery Sunday 19th
April 2014
An absolutely cracking day at
Colwick today!
Colwick FFC & Notts Salmon &
Trout Association held a junior day which proved to be the best yet
with 5 of the 11 participants taking fish, two over 3lbs. Many more
experienced pulls, a couple with fish on then off. All fished with
floating lines, the best flies being damsels and black buzzers.
Michael Atkins had the heaviest fish, weighing 3lb 2oz.
Some of the youngsters were trying
fly fishing for the first time while others had been previously. This
showed up with their much improved casting, having been coached by
Mick Huffer and further helped by members of the club.
There were Float Tubers out today
with one landing 28 trout and another 18. Boats were doing well, and
most bank anglers also reported good sport. Floating &
Intermediate lines fished with damsels, black buzzers were best,
while some fish were taken on black & green and variations of
orange flies.
Warden Jed
Savage took a boat out for the morning and had his best thrill of the
season to date, releasing a 5lb + fish.
The next junior day will be on the
