This missive finds your news
reporter in a very buoyant mood - as Keith would say ‘A good day
at the office’.
CFFC fished against Packington FFC
in the annual Round Robin Match and- Yes! - we returned with the cup
we won last year.
There were several new faces in our
team, including Angus Craig Dennis, our promising junior member who
only had a go at fly fishing last year on one of our junior days;
Paul Day on only his third day out on a boat, never having fished on
the drift before; and guest Eileen Chatwin, one of the ladies team
Rosemary fishes with, together with the old stalwarts Keith Prowting,
Kezz Saxton, Tom Morton and Rosemary Gunn.
The weather was really nice but the
fishing was not straight forward in that fish followed and turned
away more often than not. Many reported loads of taps and some lost
fish, but it was all good fun with fish generally taking on or very
near the top.
Biggin Bay was productive in the
morning for Kezz and Angus who caught on floating lines with a booby
on the top dropper and hoppers behind - 12 fish to the boat.
Keith and Paul
drifted in Toft Shallows fishing black and green most of the day
and also caught 14 to the boat. Keith, needless to say caught on his
usual Di 5 and Montaddy, retrieving straight away so as not to let it
go down. Paul fished black & green on a floater. Our top boat
on the day.
Rosemary and Eileen had a very blank
morning, experiencing follows to their dries, but eventually caught
either on a midge tip or floater with a booby on top dropper and
cormorants behind. They were another 12 fish boat.
Tom shared a boat with Packington
angler Ray Ball and they had 5 fish each.
A huge well done to all and hope to
see you back on the water soon.

Colwick FFC 43 fish for
