Colwick Fly Fishing Club At Colwick Sunday 22nd March 2015

Well what can I say! Probably the best day in my years with the Club!
This had to be the warmest most pleasant day of 2015 to date, several club members were out on boats or fishing the bank along with several other fishermen enjoying the brilliant fishing at Colwick on a glorious sunny day.

Why the best, full bags of fish and many, many more released and fantastic hard fighting quality fish.
The greatest thrill to me was to see junior club member Michael join us and reach his limit with 6 fish weighing a very respectable 12lb 12oz giving him a well deserved joint 2nd place tied with Roy Henderson for this outing.

Michael was chuffed to bits on number three as that was his best total in the short time he has been fishing, to get to six and beat his fly tying mentors was icing on the cake! More icing on the cake he caught all his fish on a fly he tied while practising his tying at home with no supervision!

Well done to John Parnham for being overall best bag with 12lb 15oz and Keith Prowting landing the best fish at 2lb 13oz.

As expected for this time of year, the majority of fish were taken on Black and Green on a mixture of lines from floaters down to slow and fast glass. Orange& black Montanas, buzzers and diawl bachs, orange blobs all featured on the returns. Highly successful too was a modernised Baby Doll with a marabou tail. (This was used by a non club member fishing from the bank.)

I do not have the total rod average, no doubt Jed will be able to supply in due course, well over 12 I suspect, see comments on Facebook.
